Tarek Fawzy, Eng.
Founder & Executive Chairman

  • Chairman and founding partner of EI.CONS, Tarek Fawzy, an architect by profession with over 30+ years in the industry, saw an opportunity for quality construction standards during Egypt’s building boom.

  • EI.CONS was established in 2005, with a clear set of values defining the EI.CONS spirit, partnering with property owners, consultants, and employees who align with this vision. Under Tarek’s leadership, EI.CONS was awarded the best contractor for Palm Hills Development for two consecutive years in 2015 & 2016. The executive leadership team continues to grow and meet demand from local and international developers for quality construction standards. As an executive chairman, he is responsible for building partnerships and broader business relationships and government outreach, as well as advising the senior management team on business and policy issues.

  • Tarek is a graduate of Alexandria University, where he received an Engineering degree with High Honors from the School of Architecture. Launching his career in Cairo, he began his specialization in high-quality buildings and interior finishing, eventually leading to partnerships with prominent clients with positions of director of design, on-site engineer, project manager, and senior interior designer.

Merit Al-Sayed, PhD
Managing Director

  • Managing Director of EI.CONS, A passionate advocate for strategy, corporate governance, SMEs, and innovation, Merit is focused on transforming how companies grow, adapt technology, and implement strategies to reach new markets and consumers.

  • Before joining EI.CONS, Merit spent more than 20 years in multiple industries across several divisions in telecoms, automotive, and banking, respectively. Most notably, she led the Strategy and EPMO department at the Arab African International Bank for over 12 years. During her tenure at AAIB, Merit has successfully implemented several technology and strategy-related projects across the bank, playing a critical role in restructuring and advancing bank operations. Additionally, one of her milestones was launching a full-fledged greenfield microfinance company in 2017 in partnership with an international emerging markets fund. From time to time, Merit gives her market insights on key financial and economic market developments to leading newspapers and agencies such as CNBC, BBC World, Project Syndicate, and Al Alam Al Youm. She is a certified trainer and instructor at the Egyptian Banking Institute.

  • She has received numerous prestigious accolades, including being named one of Egypt's Top 50 Women in 2018 and 2019. Merit is a Future Leaders Central Bank of Egypt alumni, class of 2017/18.

  • Merit is a graduate of the Kellogg School of Management and the Northwestern University Executive Program. In 2020, she earned her Ph.D. in general management from the International School of Management in Paris, France. She also has an MBA from Edinburgh Business School and a Bachelor's degree (with honors) in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo, class of 2001.
